Apparently, information exchanges between police officers (perp handlers) and their stool pigeons and patsies (perps) are sometimes conducted in plain view under the guise of some need for assistance that is meant to give any onlookers a sense of normalcy. The information exchange I witnessed was done under the cover of a police officer helping a guy who was supposedly locked out of his vehicle

Those situations that are 1. a surprize and 2. outside the area of normality, require us to dream up appropriate responses. The most common activity is to do nothing, while our brain seeks to place the situation in a category in which it is familiar. A few seconds after the onset of the situation the adrenalin hits the system which results in the ability to expend massive amounts of energy, provided the person has gotten some order to the situation- otherwise the previous lack of movement is replaced with involvuntary muscle shaking. This is why training is so important to a operator response to any situation
