Journal News employee Hail Satan !

Blogger posts names and addresses of New York newspaper staff in retaliation against paper's published map of local gun permit holders

A blogger has retaliated against a New York newspaper for publishing an interactive map of gun permit holders by posting personal information about the paper's employees.
Blogger Christopher Fountain, who primarily covers real estate news on his blog, 'For What It's Worth,' published the names, home addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, Facebook pages and twitter handles of nearly every Journal News employee on Wednesday.
The move was in retaliation against the newspaper's decision to publish the names and addresses of gun permit holders in Westchester and Rockland counties.

The paper, which is commonly referred to as LoHud for its coverage in the Lower Hudson Valley, defended its decision by saying that in the wake of the Sandy Hill Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, residents have the right to know who has legal licenses for weapons in their area.

The information on gun permit holders was culled from public records, but the move ignited backlash among readers - such as Fountain - who were upset by the fact that their gun ownership was publicized.

Thousands of readers wrote letters to the Journal News and commented on the map online, while Fountain struck back at the newspaper by posting its employees' contact information online in the same manner that the paper had done to gun permit holders.
'Miss Royle’s married name is Lambert,' Fountain wrote of Journal News Editor Cyndee Royle. 'She lives in White Plains and here is her Facebook page complete with pictures of her and her kids. Hello Sanctimony.'
Calling for change: The paper said that they decided to do so because in the wake of the Newtown shooting, many people wanted to know who had legal guns in their neighborhood, and across the country there were protests (pictured)

Explaining his decision to publish information about the paper's employees, Fountain wrote, 'This week, there is no real estate activity and I was wondering how I’d fill the pages [of the blog] until on Christmas Eve, appropriately, the Journal News came out with its bright idea of exposing law-abiding gun owners and feeding that information to criminals and busybodies.'
Later that day, someone created an interactive map out of the information that Fountain had provided on Journal News employees.

Fountain posted the map with the text: 'Ha! Where are the Journal News reporters in YOUR neighborhood?'
